WASSAIL PUNCH IN AUGUST

I haven't got a photo of Wassail Punch.
But Amie is always a good stand in for Santa's little helper, even in August.

4 whole eating apples with 2 cloves stuck in each of them.
8 oz soft brown sugar
1 pint of medium sherry
1 cinnamon stick
4 pints of brown ale (any ale really but brown is best)
Thinly pared rind of 2 oranges.

Set the oven to 350 f or mark 4.
Put the apples in an ovenproof dish and pour the sugar over them.
Pour in the sherry, add the cinnamon stick and bake for 20 minutes or until the apples are just beginning to soften and brown.
Don't over cook them.
Transfer the contents into a large saucepan and pour in the brown ale with the orange rinds.
Heat until it just begins to simmer. Then serve ...... in something that is heat proof.

Hey, that sounds great. Thanks. Now, is it nearly Christmas yet so I can try it?

Gingerbread men and Wassail punch - I can't wait to see the recipes when we're closer to Christmas. Figgy pudding? Mincemeat pie? Eggnog?

What's with all the Christmas stuff??? Don't do that, it's still summer..honest..despite the thick fog outside my window today! The punch, however, sounds delicious!

Ames
what an adorable little Santa's Helper you are.
We can just smell the aroma as it is cooking.
And now we wish we had some to drink, and maybe even eat.
It sounds so festive.
love
